Social Concerns Fund

The CAC through the Board of Outreach and Social Concerns (BOSC) has responded to the disaster in Pakistan by donating $30,000 from the BOSC Social Concerns Fund via the Singapore Red Cross.
The withdrawal of the $30,000 would mean depletion in the Social Concerns Fund.  Hence, we would like to encourage all to give generously so that sufficient amount is available for us to respond quickly to future disaster relief appeals.  Please place your contribution into the donation box located at the Social Hall on 22nd August 2010.

Exhibition Matach With Rainer Schmidt @ TACMC

22nd August 2010 @ 3pm

Come for a chance to play with German table-tennis Paralympics champion, Rainer Schmidt.  Hear him share tips on table-tennis, his personal story, or just watch him play!  Interact with him and other table-tennis enthusiasts over dinner.
Rainer was born without forearms.  He holds his table tennis paddle with a metal bar attached to his left upper arm by hook fastenings.  He has only one normal limb - his left leg, and stands with an artificial right leg.  But his disability has not stopped him from being a great athlete. Since the New York Paralympics in 1984, Rainer participated in all the 6 Paralympics, and won 8 medals - 4 gold and 4 silver. (Source: http://news.xinhuanet.com)
Rainer is a former theological student who earns his living speaking at an institute for the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.  He is optimistic that the Paralympic Games will help change the attitude of people toward those with disabilities.

Speaker:  Mr Yam Keng Mun

Synopsis: Being locked out of your teenager's life? Are you shepherding them effectively or is communication only about school and their activities? What are their impressions of you as a parent? If we are training our children in the way of the Lord (Prov. 22:6), we need to examine how we are parenting the next generation. Join us for a session of learning how we can better engage our youths.
