Published by the American Bible Society, the British and Foreign Bible Society, and The National Bible Society of Scotland, Shanghai, 1933.Donated by church member Chua Hean Swee (谢献瑞) on 7 May 1939. Chua was baptized by Rev. Hong Hang Keng in 1936.
Cassell’s Illustrated Family Bible (Superior Edition)
Published by Cassell, Petter & Galpin. Brought to the church by American missionaries in 1889, this Bible has been part of the congregation’s history for over a century.
These large Bibles are usually used as pulpit Bibles in church sanctuaries, a visible display of the centrality of God’s Word. They may be brought into the sanctuary as part of a liturgical procession or just displayed there, usually opened to the scripture text of the day.
